BenQ MS524 Vs Optoma S316

The projector is one of the most important peripheral hardware’s for a computer today. They are not only useful at home but also very handy in the workplace. At home they are used to project videos like movies on the wall, while in the workplace they are used for presentations in boardrooms and conferences. There are many different types of projectors but for this discussion we will only mention two: Benq ms524 vs optoma s316.

BenQ MS524 Vs Optoma S316

The two versions have a native resolution of 800*600 SVGA, a brightness of 3200L, 1.1 times zoom, composite inputs including, HDMI, S-Video, and 2 VGA. They have an output VGA for loop through, built in speaker (2Watts), and they are RS-232 controllable. Both projectors, though competing at the same level go for a similar price of 309 dollars each.

Though similar in the basic structure, the two models differ slightly in some specs. For example, the Benq has a throw ratio of, 2.04:1 while the Optima has 2.15:1. The Benq has an allowance for input and output of analog audio while the Optima does not. At HD resolution, the Benq supports 3D technology, while the optoma does not support this functionality. The only difference that the optoma beats the Benq at is the carrying case which is part of the package. I wonder whether Benq designers ever thought that the projector needs to be mobile. The Optoma also beats the Benq in that it has quick resume functionality and can shut down rapidly.

In overall the Benq overshadows the Optoma not only in the name but additional functionalities and specs. The case carrier and shut down capabilities for the Optoma is not something big to overshadow the Benq. The Benq does shut down eventually and of course there is not tech gadget sold today in the market without a carrier bag. The analogue compatibility and the HD resolution puts the Benq way ahead of the two competitors: Benq ms524 vs. optoma s316
