How small is too small? When it comes to choosing for the right home theater system for a room with limited space available, form factor becomes one important aspect to consider. While smaller systems tend to be cheaper and more flexible to place, they may struggle to deliver the true bass performance. Klipsch, however, seems to have found the sweet spot between compactness and bass performance with Klipsch HD Theater 500 and Klipsch HD Theater 600. So, which model should you choose between these two models?
Design
One thing that you need to know is that Klipsch HD Theater 600 is an update model for Klipsch HD Theater 500. After a considerable success with the compact home theater system Klipsch HD Theater 500, the manufacturer has released Klipsch HD Theater 600 to improve some things that can actually be improved. The first thing that you can notice upon putting these two products side by side is the difference in design. Klipsch HD Theater 600 comes with an even smaller form factor than Klipsch HD Theater 500. Their ABS satellite speakers are still of the same size of 6” x 3.6” x 3.85” and their center channel speakers are 3.6” x 9” x 3.85”. However, Klipsch HD Theater 600’s subwoofer has been made more compact, measuring by just 13.9” high and 12.5” deep. So, it is much easier to place and install when limited space is an issue. Both subwoofers make use of vinyl-wrapped MDF for the best, uncompromised bass quality. The layouts are pretty much identical, though Klipsch HD Theater 500’s white domes are changed with black domes on Klipsch HD Theater 600.

Performance
Even though Klipsch HD Theater 600 comes with a smaller form factor, it actualy has more superior bass performance than Klipsch HD Theater 500! Both models have up to 100W/Ch amp power and are able to deliver 112 dB maximum acoustic output; however, Klipsch HD Theater 500 ‘only’ has a frequency response range of 36 Hz – 20 kHz. Klipsch HD Theater 600 has improved this aspect by introducing the 2.5” long-throw IMG woofers that expand midbass bandwidth. It has a frequency response range of 33 Hz – 20 kHz. The improvement is quite apparent; the bass feels fuller and more solid, without muddling the mids or highs, creating such an immersive listening experience.
