Marantz NR1506 can work with 5 satellite speakers and 2 subwoofers. With a 50-Watt power, it is able to deliver superb bass performance. The lows are solid, full, and powerful. The mids and highs are decently clean and articulate. Yet, it may turn pale for larger rooms. On the other hand, with a 60-Watt audio amplification, Yamaha RX-S601 can deliver stronger and louder sounds so that Yamaha RX-S601 can be better in larger rooms.
Both models come with automatic audio calibration, wireless connectivity, also Dolby Digital, Dolby Atmos, and DTS technologies. However, the primary difference is perhaps located at the multi-room audio output support. Marantz NR1506 lacks this feature. Yamaha RX-S601, on the other hand, supports multi-room audio output, which can be beneficial if you want to build a large audio system across your home. Unfortunately, it does not support multi-room video as well.
Because of the extra feature, we won’t need to be surprised that Yamaha RX-S601 comes with more ports than Marantz NR1506. It has 9 audio-video inputs and 4 audio-only inputs, along with component, optical, and coaxial video inputs. There is a component video monitor output, an HDMI monitor output, and one main speaker output pair.
