Polk RTi8 Review: Crisp and Clear Floorstanding Tower Speaker

Are you currently looking for a floor-standing tower speaker that can give you superior audio qualities without breaking the bank? If you want to have the best home theater system that you can get with money, having some floor-standing tower speakers is a good solution for limited space. While they are tall, floor-standing tower speakers are also relatively slim; thus they don’t take too much surface area. In addition, there are several exceptional models that are very popular on the market, such as Polk’s RTi speakers. Despite being slim, the audio quality is astonishing.

Polk RTi8 Review Crisp and Clear Floorstanding Tower Speaker

For a budget of about two hundred bucks or so, Polk RTi8 should be on your priority list. The model is now available around such price. So, compared to the other models, Polk RTi8 is now relatively an affordable and budget-friendly choice. Even so, it offers various great qualities that make people consider its value as a steal. It does not have that ultra-boomy bass, which you can get from a subwoofer instead of a floor-standing tower speaker, but the audio reproduction has outstanding clarity.

Polk RTi8 comes with an MDF construction. We all know that the MDF material is one of the best choices for building a speaker. MDF enclosures are reasonably rugged and durable, yet with excellent audio qualities. The MDF construction of Polk RTi8 is completely resonance-free, ensuring optimum output quality through the drivers. The overall size is pretty compact, since it only measures by 41.61” x 7.72” x 15.47”. And, at 52.8 lbs, Polk RTi8 is not exactly lightweight, but it is not too heavy either.

Polk RTi8 features a bass-reflex design to enhance the bass quality and durability. The featured PowerPort Plus venting functions for putting out excessive vibration, reducing distortion and protecting the internal components at the same time. The speaker is equipped with two 6.5” polymer composite cone LF drivers. Each of the woofers is also protected by a rubber surround. There is also a 1” silk/polymer composite dome tweeter.

Once Polk RTi8 is put into a test, it is ready to showcase its brilliant audio performance. However, you should not expect it to have strong, heart-stomping bass, even though it has a frequency response range of 30 Hz – 27 kHz. Instead, the bass is tight and accurate. The 90 dB sensitivity level indicates that Polk RTi8 is capable of capturing and reproducing even the slightest audio signal. However, the overall audio is crisp and detailed without being too bright; creating an output that is pleasant to the ears. It also has excellent clarity and imaging that you can feel as if all of the musical instruments are presented live in front of you.

Polk RTi8 comes with a nominal impedance of 8 Ohms. In order to operate, Polk RTi8 requires being paired with an amplifier with 20 W – 250 W of power.
